Differences between Russian and Belarusian

A lot of people don’t see any difference between Russia and Belarus. Even Russian and Belorussian prefer to think, that these two nations almost do not differ. Why? Because Belarus has got two national languages – Russian and Belorussian, while the greater part of our people prefer to speak the language of the big neighbor. We look identically, we have the same customs, we talk and think in the same way. BUT! To be honest we, Belorussians, are not pale imitators – we are nation with a great history, with our victories and fails. We have got our own positive and negative features. In this article I’m going to make a list of several significant differences between Russian and Belorussian.

1. Belorussians are more careful to nature and environment. Our country is cleaner then Russia. You won’t see such a horrible amount of garbage like in Russia.
2. Belorussians are less prone to crime. We have maniacs, bandits, thieves, like all do, but, in whole, the number of crimes is significantly less.
3. We are cautious. That is why our people are scared of making rude offenses. It doesn’t mean that we are very law-abiding. It means that we are more afraid of punishment. So our criminal guys do their business quietly, without showing off.
4. We produce more quality products. That is not because of we are so honest and responsible. We have very hard governmental control. And our level of corruption is  enough low to prevent truly examination of quality of food, clothing and etc.
5. We don’t like to work, but we do. If Russian isn’t set up to work, you won’t coerce him even by force. But our man under pressure can built Chinese Wall Belorussian edition.
6. We like alcohol, but we have some kind of culture in drinking. Unruly and crazy drunk Belorussian is likely exception. Belorussian prefers to laugh, to sing different drinking songs or to mourn, to talk about hard life. Russians sometimes behave like psychos: fights, rude sex, crime and etc. But for us, this is not about us.
7. Belorussians are conservative. Our people don’t like strange fashion, gay parades, binge rockers and all that. Only progressive youth refers to this as neutral or positive. And mature generation can’t still understand young couples living without marriage. Actually we don’t like changes. That is why new social trends are spread slowly.
8. We are tolerant in questions of faith. We can scare, misunderstand another faith, but we try not to judge people with different world outlook.
9. Our country represents less other nationalities. Nationalists with proud say that our nation is more pure, despite of the fact that we don’t hate other nations, like Russian do.
10. We don’t have an idea of world Domination. And in general our position isn’t so active. Russia has a lot of social active people, who doesn’t care. In Belarus people prefer not to stand out and live quite measured life.

Greetings

Hello, my name is Catherine and I’m glad to meet you in my cosy blog. Don’t be surprised because of my bad English. I’m just a Belarusian girl, who wants to raise the level of international language. I hope that some kind heart would help me say goodbye to my goofy mistakes. Instead I will share more or less interesting stories about my country, town and still life.
Currently I’m a 24-old female, who recently finished higher education. According to diploma I’m a teacher of Russian language and literature with a specialty of computer linguistics. For the will of fate my humble person works in advertising agency for position of copywriter, that is why I have morbid craving for creating a lot of letters.
